WOW THIS PLACE IS SLOW!!!! Went here for Mother's Day and had hibachi reservations for four people at 6:00 PM. Hostess said the hibachi tables were running about 10 minutes late so they'd seat us as soon as possible. About 25 minutes later we had our seat. Another 20 minutes later we placed our order. Another 20 minutes later we got salads. The hibachi chef was a hot mess. Disorganized, slow, triple checking orders... As a result, all the food was overcooked - yep, all of it. Further, the waitstaff was really inattentive. Several requests for refills went unaddressed, and the sushi order sat at the sushi bar long enough to get close to room temp. I'm not really sure how you can have such a disorganized restaurant and stay in business for long. I seldom write negative reviews but I just don't have good stuff I can say about East Moon. There are plenty of other good to great restaurants in Fort Collins, so there will be no need to come back here. Sorry, East Moon, you're just kind of terrible.

I would definitely recommend this place. We had reservations and showed up on time which always helps. We were seated within minutes of arriving and the staff immediately took drink orders. Our party of ten was a mix bag of age groups and I thought the staff did a wonderful job handling everyones personalities and needs. The hibachi chef was entertaining and had everyone around the grill laughing. I loved the fried rice and the steak. The portions are huge and everyone at the table was either stuffed and/or took home extras. I think this place is great for groups and also good for couples. They have a nice bar to sit at and smaller party tables on the opposite side of the restaurant from the hibachi grills which is nice if you want a quieter experience.

Tasty food, amazing presentation and plenty of hot tea. Worth trying once.

The sushi is good but our service today from the manager Jason was terrible..never saw him again after he brought our drinks! Had to ask 3 different ppl for plates, to remove our dirty dishes and the check. Our drinks never got refilled either. Why is the manager doing waiter duties when it's not that busy?! We're normally 20% tippers but not today..it went to the sushi chef who was very nice! Time to look into who helps run your restaurant.

WHY IS THIS PLACE NOT PACKED ALL THE TIME?! The sushi is so good! The hibachi tables look so fun! The atmosphere is so open and fun! This is definitely another one of those restaurants that I would love to rent out for a party. A great bar in the center of the restaurant. The owner/manager always walking around checking on tables. I truly had a great experience there. Next time though... Hibachi! mmm

I'd been traveling for 2 days tand wanted a nice quiet dinner. Instead I got the manager/owner or someone Asian, screaming and hollering, using the F bomb and following employees around in doing so. The place was somewhat empty, but I got there at 7 pm on a Sunday night. It was so humiliating for the employees and I wanted to jump up and tell him to STOP.... Needless to say the Sushi was delicious.

My family was visiting and we went here for dinner last night much to our disappointment. Cool ambiance but the food was all super bland except for the coconut shrimp. Those were delicious. Service was reasonable, our beverages states full. Sushi took a long time and waitress was a little arrogant though. Won't be coming back.

We ordered delivery, they said 30-45 min. 75 minutes later half our order arrived cold. We called to say that we were missing half of our order and were given a bunch of excuses, not one "sorry". We called THREE times asking when it would arrive and each time they said it was on it's way. They finally told us that we should have ordered from the other store because it was closer. So frustrating!

I'm writing to update my review. East Moon is under new management (at least the one on Harmony) and I was very impressed after my last visit. I had always enjoyed the food but the service was terrible but apparently they got rid of the people they needed to! I will no longer avoid!

I enjoy eating at a East Moon and have had the various curries, spicy figs, sesame dishes, and various sushi rolls. I've found the food to be tasty, beautiful presentation, service adequate. I hosted a birthday party for my sister just last week at the restaurant and they were very helpful and welcoming

    (5)
  • Kim D.

The Rockies Roll was super yummy! We had efficient, friendly service and everything was served quickly even though it was pretty crowded. The folks in the Hibatchi section were having a blast. Would come back for sure.

  • Jenice C.

Used to like this restaurant but the food quality has declined. Thai hot and sour soup wasn't warm or as tasty as it used to be. Beef was "spongey" in my main dish. Service was good.

    (2)
  • E T.

I've given this place a few chances, and on each occasion, the food has been mediocre at best. The pad Thai and similar noodle dishes have weird, off-flavors and seem to be thrown together. The curries taste like the instant curry-from-a-jar that you mix with coconut milk. I'd bet money that East Moon does not cook from scratch. The sushi was not far off from king soopers sushi. Almost any carbon copy "Chinese restaurant" is equal or better. The second star is only for ambiance, which is just about the only thing this place has.

    (2)
  • Leslie P.

Had hibachi. Super nice service however food was not authentic. Felt like it was a bit too Americanized for the price. Will probably only come back in a pinch.

Wow. Okay. While my situation was a bit of a unique one, this is one of those rare cases where I will humbly ask anyone who is contemplating eating at East Moon to quickly consider other options. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? I need to start off this review by pointing out that my sister has a soy allergy. Yes, yes I know; that being the case, it is incredibly stupid to eat at virtually any Asian establishment. My bad. However, we made this known to our server right off the bat, and apologized profusely when we realized how foolish we were having picked Asian cuisine. She said that it wouldn't be a problem. However, not ten minutes later, she came out with my sister's salad. When we pointed out that the dressing was clearly soy-based, she just blankly stared at us as though we were nuts. Frustrating. It's for this reason alone that I'm going to scratch the star here. Basic communication people. No Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I don't remember exactly what I paid for my Kung Pao chicken, but it was well below $10, which is reasonable for sit-down asian cuisine. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Blech. First off, the salads were absolutely swimming in dressing to a truly ridiculous degree, making them virtually inedible. From there, my Kung Pao chicken was weak, complimented only by some basic peppers (?) and a few peanuts. Weak. No Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Absolutely not. No Star Granted.

I've eaten take out from here a time or two and each time was equally as disappointing. The food is extremely over priced and tastes as if it was frozen and reheated

East Moon decor is quaintly eclectic, with an interesting color scheme, but it works! The food was good, although my waitress could not understand my English, and did not know the answer to whether the 'crabmeat' was real or imitation, until another waitress told her. Overall a good lunch for an impromptu stop en route to my hotel.

  • John F.

Went for early lunch. 1st couple in the joint and got seated right away, but took 10 minutes to get food ordered. Ordered hot tea, luke warm at best (how hard is this). Ordered spicy scallop lunch entree, again the plate was not close too hot or spicy, plus scallops were way over cooked and rubbery. My wife's shrimp entree wasn't much better. Both lacked flavor. No need to go back here.

  • K.T. T.

Extremely disappointed. Usually order take out from here often and it is here within the time they say. Tonight we ordered 4 rolls and live less than 10 minutes away, after an hour and 15 minutes we canceled our order. No apology for taking so long and being a loyal customer you would think they value our business but clearly they are busy enough. There are just way too many other places to spend our money. Too bad for them.

A Chinese bistro serving Vietnamese food and sushi. Decor is very nice, and the A/C is great, the service was good. The food not so much. My Mojito had rotten mint in it, and it tasted like sweet and sour mix. Sent back. The lettuce wraps were quite good, and I would recommend. I ordered the lemon grass pork chop ( which is not a pork chop, it's 6 pieces of 1/2" thick cutlet of something, served with bad terriaki. (sent back ) The sesame shrimp has no sesame on it except for a token sprinkle, and the sauce on it tastes the same as the on pork cutlets. ( Sent back due to really unfresh garnish ) The white rice served with the entrees is molded into heart shapes and comes with a cherry on top. 1. No one wants cherries on rice. 2. Nothing stuffed into a mold is appetizing. Everything is served over bland steamed broccoli. Go someplace better. Too many things are wrong here to ever try it again. Gave up and left...

The food is pretty crap, on par with every other asian restaraunt in fort collins. The crispy duck is more like limped, soggy duck. The panang curry, I beleive, is canned and topped off with tap water as the secret ingredient. And the fried rice has raisins in it. Fucking raisins! But, its still one of the better asian places around. Unfortunately.

    (2)
  • Sean R.

Due to the lack of asians working here we should've turned around immediately but made the mistake of staying. A bunch of fat, middle aged white guys making your sushi is a recipe for disaster. One guy kept rubbing his nose with the gloves on and then preparing some other people's dish. I'm not easily disgusted but I threw up a little in my mouth and then had to taste this food again which made it worse.

After perusing other Yelp reviews I thought I had set my expectations appropriately low when a friend chose this place for a celebratory dinner, but I was wrong. The food here was. just. awful. Perhaps the mistake I made was ordering a dish that I normally enjoy when it is prepared well -- Thai Beef Salad -- but I think that even someone with the blandest palate would have been disappointed with the sad, thin, completely unseasoned strips of beef that were served on supermarket-style mixed greens with a weird peanut-butterish dressing on the side. I also ordered a Thai iced tea, which should be hard to mess-up. I do think that they used the right tea, but it was just so watered down. Maybe I should have stuck to stuff that no self-respecting person of Asian descent would order, e.g. crab-cheese won ton, so I wouldn't have any expectations. I did notice that they served a variety of New Belgium beer (in the bottle, not on tap), so perhaps the best strategy would have been to have had a beer to be sociable while skipping dinner altogether ... A note on the categorization of this place -- I see it listed as "Asian fusion," but there is nothing creative or innovative enough to qualify as "fusion" here. I would say that this place tries to be pan-Asian, as it attempts to cover Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc. (and very badly, in my opinion)

Well just spent $33.00 on dinner and all I can say is it was NASTY and smelled. Egg rolls were over cooked...way over cooked. Picked food up and brought home didn't feel like going back as we don't live that close so we are tossing their menu and I am making a PBJ for dinner. Save your money. They used to be excellent, but as other reviewers said, they have gone downhill. You'd have a better oriental meal getting frozen PF Changs from King Soopers!

    (1)
  • Shannon B.

I love the variety of food they have and the lucky 7 sushi roll is my favorite! They always have specials available and good drinks. Service depends on the server, I have had some poor and some rock star service. If you go to this location, be sure to ask for Chloe!

    (5)
  • J M.

Horrible customer service! Ordered food for delivery and never received it! After several calls to the restaurant to find out where our order was, the "manager" said he would call me back, and never did! I called back again and he had no explanation for why our order was never completed and delivered even though I had called several times so he knew we had placed an order and had been waiting! Never eating there again, ordering delivery or recommending East Moon to anyone!

By far the best Asian fare in Northern Colorado. Wide selection of toes of food. Curries are excellent. Ask to have the Pad Thai sauce thickened. Love their Thai fried rice. Wait till you taste the peanut dressing on the complimentary salad. Actually bought a container to take home.

    (5)
  • Chad T.

The sushi is decent but overpriced I think for what you get. You're better off going down to Jeju or Suehiro because for the same price you get better fish and more selection. Also, the service was pretty bad considering how much money we were spending, and it wasn't even that busy inside. Hopefully management will work on this.

Over all a great experience. I sat at the bar with couple friends to watch a little basketball. Great prices on drinks and sushi for happy hour. Bartender was very friendly and the huge flat screen was a bonus. The habachi room started to get busy and looked really fun. I will be back soon and look forward to sitting on the patio once the weather gets better.

Great take out, sushi, hibachi. My asian food go-to. I enjoy the fried rice with a touch of their seafood sauce. The staff is very courteous and is very welcoming. The design and layout of the restaurant is very modern, artsy, and roomy. The complete hibachi experience is one of the more enjoyable in taste and chef interaction.

There is traditional Chinese food (which you can't find in Fort Collins) and then there's American-Chinese food (which you can't find in China). Traditional Chinese food focuses on the five flavors - spicy, salty, sweet, bitter and sour and well as the use of fresh vegetables as the main focus of the dish. Traditional Chinese medicine even taps into the healing power of foods. American-Chinese food is typically fried, covered in various oils and sauces with meat as the cornerstone of each dish. Vegetables are sometimes just a garnish and the flavors are much more mild compared to traditional Chinese food. East Moon on east Harmony is not only American-Chinese, but the epitome of Califorinated Chinese. Typical fusion dishes with a sushi bar in a brightly colored, trendy restaurant. It might not be anywhere near traditional Chinese cuisine (or Asian cuisine of any sort), but it can still be a delicious place to dine if you find the right dish. East Moon Asian Bistro seems to be a hit or miss kind of spot. Our service was fine, but many of our dishes were just "meh." It might take a few visits to find a menu item that you love. A vibrant flashy fusion atmosphere isn't going to make up for mild and dull average flavor.

This place is OK but you have to order carefully. Our usual group likes the Panang curry and the Mongolian beef.

    (3)
  • Bran H.

Pretty decent fare, can't comment on the hibachi side. Don't come in here expecting the dishes to taste traditional you'll be disappointed. Among our favorites are the basil fried rice, Thai fried rice, and pad Thai (my husband). The pad Thai is on the really sweet side and not what you'd expect at all. I prefer the traditional tasting stuff. Sesame chicken is good and the kids enjoy the cut up fruit art.

  • N M.

This is a fancy-pants, corporate theme asian place is in a new strip mall. Food was on the low end of acceptable. Had the pad thai lunch special which was a real disappointment. Pad tai should NOT be served heavy in sauce in a large soup bowl. That is just plain wrong. Wakame salad should be called wakame salad - not seaweed salad. And it should not be served on a bed of green with a citrus vinaigrette. Just an un-exceptional meal overall, but I guess this must pass for good asian food out here on the fringe of the midwest? Good asian places should have indifferent or bad service. This place had great service. Enough said.

I use work near the Prospect location and would go for lunch quite a bit and really enjoyed their food. Now I work close to the Harmony location and I have ordered take out for lunch there a few times. Let me just say that they just keep going downhill. This last go round, I ordered around 2PM and it tastes like my food was lunch leftovers and reheated with a microwave. Parts of my chicken were overcooked and chewy. Never again!

I was really excited to try this place for a friend's Birthday. First I'd like to say the food was decent, but not good enough for the price. The service was terrible, our waitress was horrible; she got 3 out of 6 drinks incorrectly, our order was taken 30 minutes after we were seated, and sadly the Hibachi was served too far apart that by the time we got our whole meal the rest was cold.

    (1)
  • Jeff B.

We waited for close to an hour for our entree, and it wasnt very good. The server tried to make the experience better but it was just too long and too many mistakes. After waiting for 40 minutes, he brought out a different dish than we ordered. The only reason I dont rate it with 1 star is because the sushi chef made us a crab cake while we were waiting for our food (not sure what it was but it was shaped like a cake and had crab) and it was amazing. If we ever decide to go back we will try their sushi.

I am a hibachi nut. Have been to many in my life. Visiting my Son and his family here and he recommended this place because they love it. I agree very nice meal at a fair price.

Used to be my favorite place to eat but about two years ago it started going downhill and you could tell they started cutting corners on the sushi. Waiters are ok but communication is 'spotty' for a few of them. The prospect location is the better of the two and gets the sushi right more often than the Harmony loc. I used to get delivery at least once a week but they suddenly stopped delivering to my house, oddly saying that they never delivered to anything west of college ave. so one less customer....

  • Martha L.

It's Asian fusion, which makes me kinda biased to start. I have never found a great Asian fusion restaurant anywhere. I am convinced that it doesn't exist. If the chef is a great Chinese chef, he would work in a Chinese restaurant with an authentic menu and Chinese owners, where he doesn't have to deal with thai curry. If the chef is a great Japanese chef, he would work in a Japanese restaurant and so on and so forth. You never hear of a great restaurant that offers both excellent German sausages and Italian pasta. The best Asian fusion restaurant I've been to is clean and has decent food. East Moon is no exception. Like many others of its genre, it's clean and caters mostly to a non-Asian crowd. I'm sorry, but this is true. That said, the food is ok, if you're not looking for anything exceptional.

Stopped in this joint for dinner with my father-in-law. The service was marginal and the food was acceptable but not memorable. This place will likely be breasts up soon.

One of the few really good Asian restaurants in the Fort Collins area second only to Young's and PF Chang's for our family. Wait staff is friendly but as other's have noted, sometimes they are understaffed. Still highly recommended.

The service was friendly and the timing was spot on. However, the rolls were sparingly filled with crab and fish.

I'm a sucker for inexpensive sushi, and one of my friends found out that East Moon on Harmony had sushi happy hour from 3-6pm Monday through Thursday and 3-5pm on Friday where nigri is just $1. So we hit up today and were pleasantly surprised! My very first experience at East Moon was alright (not bad, but not great) so I really wasn't expecting too much, especially since it was discount sushi. But surprisingly, the pieces were large, fresh, and very delicious! Our sushi chef even made us a free appetizer of spicy crab that was also great! So why just 3 stars? Honestly, it would have been 4 stars if it were for the uber creepy manager(?) that was serving us. The whole time he was blatantly hitting on us and it was very awkward and uncomfortable. Even while pouring my friend tea, he said he "had to be careful not to burn her, or else he would have to buy her dinner...I might just buy you dinner anyways." Creepy! Even after my friend's boyfriend showed up to meet us, the constant hovering never ended. He would also addressed our group of 3 (2 girls, 1 guy) as "ladies", then would add in an afterthought of "oh, and gentleman," which struck me as very rude. I'm not usually one to be bothered by bad service, so you know that I must have been severely disturbed by this guy to knock them down a whole star just for him! So my suggestion to East Moon: lose the creepy manager. Plus, if I'm sitting at the sushi bar, I don't need to be constantly "checked up on" by a server. If I need something, I'll just ask the sushi chef. Other than mister creepy, I really did enjoy the sushi happy hour at East Moon and will probably be back again. Lets just hope that they have a different manager working then...

My husband and I went there a couple of weeks ago, and thought it was really good and fresh tasting. We had ordered delivery once before from the other location, but decided to actually give it a try and go in a sit down. I got the sesame chicken, which was really crispy. We also ordered dumplings for an app, which were also great. The only thing I didn't like...the service. It was horrible. I will definitely try this place again, but hopefully it doesn't take 20 minutes and 3 people to fill my water and bring our bill.

  • Alden C.

For Fort Collins this place has good prices and a nice list of entrees to pick from. I had their drunken noodles here which I enjoyed a great deal! I sampled other dishes with people that were in my group and enjoyed it equally so! Wait staff is friendly and eager to please and the present their food quite nicely! I will be going back here again and again!

Didn't choose this place. Never would have picked a place with this many bad reviews. Came as part of a big group. Ordered sushi because I thought it had the least chance of being gross. Salad starter was ok. Hot and sour soup was a little bland. Sushi deluxe appeared to be more like "chef's cheapest selection." The tuna in the maki roll was actually puréed. I've never even seen that in grocery store sushi. I must say I was happier with my dinner than if I had gotten one of the greasy fried dishes. The rice was actually pressed into a heart shaped mold with a cherry on top! Nasty! Bottom line...Whole Foods has better sushi for less money.

    (2)
  • Kristen S.

Trust the bad reviews. Seriously yuck. I can't speak for the grill, but their delivery was not worth my money. You would think anything would taste good after not eating breakfast that day or dinner the night before, but I couldn't even eat the food we ordered it was so terrible. The blandest asian cuisine I've had in my life. Even the crab rangoon and egg rolls were bad-and how can you mess those up? The crab and cream cheese was grainy, barely warm, and again lacking in flavor. The egg roll was mostly wonton wrapper-2 bites in didn't even get me to the filling. The Basil Chicken dish (which I ordered as the menu called it the most popular) was abysmal. My boyfriend didn't fare much better with the Teriyaki Chicken. Not worth the free delivery, a giant waste of my money. The free delivery was a joke too, took over an hour when we were quoted 30 minutes and live less than 5 minutes away from the place. You would definitely be better off with a frozen meal.

Perhaps the best salad dressing on earth...but if you go to Sushi restaurants for the Sushi you will not be disappointed. Sit outside when weather allows. The lunch special should be elected to congress. They have Hibachi but I have yet to try it.

I loved the look of the restaurant and the trendy atmosphere. I was also excited to see that they had a Hibachi grill. We decided to sit at a table as opposed to sitting by the grill. As I opened the menu I did not see any Hibachi choices. I asked our server and she told me you could only have Hibachi if you sat on that side. I have been to many Asian restaurants and never encountered that. I was disappointed after hearing that because I came for the Hibachi. My boyfriend and I ended up ordering sushi. It was average, nothing too memorable. After reading some of the other reviews I think I will try their other location next time.

Great for kids. Went with friends and their 4 and 6 year olds. So much action they've kids were entertained all evening. Food is about what you would expect. Nothing fancy, but a good show.

im a fan and regular at east moon, however not at this location. we went here once because of our love for the lemay & prospect. although this place is the closer of the two we will drive that bit extra to go to the l & p location due to inconsistent food at the harmony location.

The selection of Asian food types is the plus here. The food quality is above average. The atmospheres is clean and modern if not very comfortable. Service is attentive but not what you would call friendly.

Went to this establishment for a business lunch. Staff was prompt and attentive. My ice tea never got empty before it was refilled. Loved the menu. Something here for everyone. Sushi, Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese. Had Thai green curry and it was excellent! Also had a cup of hot and sour soup and it was both hot and sour, not one or the other like most places. Looking forward to going back with my wife who is a big fan of Chinese.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
